Getting started with EDH Playgroup

This guide walks playgroup admins through setup from bot invite to first logged game. For every slash command and option, see the Discord command reference.

   Invite the bot to your Discord server

   Add EDH Playgroup with one click. The bot registers slash commands, creates an #edh-playgroup text channel, sets up your playgroup, adds the server owner as admin, and starts a Pre-Season — check that channel for a welcome message.

   Optional: /set-bot-channel — only if you want bot commands in a channel other than #edh-playgroup (created automatically on invite).

   Add your players

   Admins can run /add-all-members to add everyone in the server at once. Otherwise, players join the playgroup automatically the first time they use a bot command (like /add-deck or /join-game).

   Add decks for your players

   Each player runs /add-deck with a bracket level. Paste a Moxfield or Archidekt link to auto-fill commander and colors, or enter details manually. Decks persist across games and seasons.

   Start a season

   Your server begins with a Pre-Season. When your group wants a named leaderboard, run /start-season (e.g. "Spring 2026"). Games count toward the active season until you run /end-season.

   Play your first game

   Run /start-game in the bot channel to open a game thread. Players /join-game with their deck, record eliminations and first player, then /finish-game with the winner and turn count.

   Explore the web dashboard

   Sign in with Discord at edhplaygroup.app to see leaderboards, active games, deck stats, events, achievements, and Season Wrapped. The dashboard stays in sync with everything logged in Discord.
